Westminster, CO - October 31, 2008 - Dalbey Education is donating over 700 turkeys to the Denver Rescue Mission’s annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. The donation of $10,000 worth of turkeys contributes to the Mission’s goal of raising 6,000 holiday birds by kicking off the annual “Turkey Drive Challenge” to the area businesses.

“Thanksgiving is a time for us all to pause and be grateful for all that we have. It’s also a time when we think of those less fortunate than ourselves and do what we can to help; especially this year, in these tough and unpredictable times. Which is why I’m challenging all businesses and individuals to help make a difference by making a donation of time, food, or money,” says Russ Dalbey, CEO and founder of Dalbey Education.

The donated turkeys will be used for the Denver Rescue Mission’s Great Thanksgiving Banquet on November 26, where nearly 1,000 meals will be served at The Crossing and Lawrence Street facilities to homeless and low-income men, women and children. 1,250 turkeys and fixings are boxed for meal preparation for families in need and are also used throughout the year at five facilities where meals are served.

“Dalbey Education’s support year over year has helped make a difficult time of year special for many individuals and families. The Turkey Drive also raises awareness in the coming colder winter months about the needs of our homeless and low-income populations,” said Greta Walker.  “When businesses like Dalbey Education step up, it motivates others to do the same. Who else will answer the challenge?”

Said Dalbey, “Don’t be a turkey, please give a turkey to a family less fortunate through the Denver Rescue Mission. Let’s all do our part this year and inspire others to participate in this extremely important community challenge.”

A press conference will be held at the Denver Rescue Mission on November 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. to coincide with DEI’s turkey donation delivery from Red Bird Farms. This event will kick off the official Turkey Drive Challenge. The media and public are encouraged to attend. To donate turkeys, time or support, please contact the Denver Rescue Mission at 303-297-1815 or www.DenverRescueMission.org.
